The 1.4 engine might not be extremely sprightly, yet itβs a pretty good engine on its own. Mated with this platform of good neutral handling, solid build, sharp brakes and smooth gearbox, the Jetta TSI is still a car you can have fun with on a twisty road. On spirited ghat sections, 2nd gear is phenomenal.
Once in the zone, the car just flies and it is hard to believe that this is just a 1.4L engine. I was reading various reviews and it seems the 0-100 timings for the 1.4 TSI manual is almost similar to 1.8 TSI DSG(8.4 vs 8.2 secs). I would have liked to go for the 1.8 TSI if manual transmission was available.
Best reasonable performance mods that are available for the 1.4 are intake, downpipe, and tune. If you want better shifting feel there are also a couple short shifters and engine mounts/inserts available. Those basic mods will run you about $1500 and your car will be marginally faster and a little more fun to drive.
The T-Roc 1.4 TSI feels sprightlier than the 110kW and 250Nm of torque suggests. This is thanks to the fast acting eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, that shifts through the gears with immense efficiency and plenty of smoothness. This allows the crossover to apply its power quickly, while still maintaining reasonable fuel efficiency. Initially offered with a choice of two engines, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit and a 1.4 TSI petrol engine, Volkswagen is expecting the oil burning powerplant to be its best seller. However, it's the 1.4 petrol unit that is the real surprise, thanks to the firm's TSI technology. The 2.0-liter TSI is unchanged from the facelift, which means 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Nm) of torque on full song. 1 This Is the Damage Endured by an Engine After a 100-Shot of On 07/07/2015 at 14:01, Bogwoppit said: I've driven a couple of mk3 Leon's with the 1.4 ACT 150ps engine in and it felt quick enough, the new superb 1.4 TSI DSG is 100kg heavier at 1350kg, so it will feel more sluggish. It might be worth taking a Leon for a test drive with some ballast (passengers) to give you an idea. cCoMx9.
